Grand Prairie AirHogs News Release

KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- John Alonso hit two home runs to help make up for his team's four errors and 11 baserunners left on as the Grand Prairie AirHogs extended their winning streak to seven games, defeating the Kansas City T-Bones 5-2 for the second night in a row at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

The AirHogs (13-5) wasted chances against Reid Santos (2-2) in the first three innings, and then their own sloppy defense allowed Kansas City (7-11) to take the lead in the bottom of the third.

With one out, Fernando Garcia dribbled a ball down the third base line that stopped on the grass for a base hit. Then, two straight errors loaded the bases, before a fielder's choice by Rico Washington and an infield single by Ray Sadler put the T-Bones up 2-0.

Santos retired six of the seven hitters he faced in the fourth and fifth, but Alonso led off the sixth with his first home run of the year to cut Grand Prairie's deficit in half. An inning later, Danny Figueroa led off with a single up the middle, and scored on Greg Porter's clutch two-out single to knock out Santos. Kyle Dahman, who struck out Alonso on Monday, came in to face the AirHogs designated hitter, but this time Alonso won the battle, lining another homer to right to give Grand Prairie a 4-2 advantage.

Josh Rainwater (4-0) was the beneficiary of the late offense, as the righty from DeRidder, La., scattered five hits and a walk through seven innings, allowing no earned runs while striking out six - and three of the hits were infield singles while another was a fly ball to right lost in the sky.

The AirHogs added one more in the eighth to match Monday's 5-2 score, and Dustin Cameron and Jon Hunton finished things up again with a pair of perfect innings with a flyout to left, a flyout to center and a strikeout, with Hunton picking up his league-leading eighth save.

Notes: Cesar Nicolas sat out Tuesday's game after he left Monday's game after diving for a pop-up and spraining his elbow...The T-Bones two errors were made by two different relievers in the eighth inning...The AirHogs struck out 13 times, setting a new season high...Four AirHogs had multiple-hit games...Each team only walked one hitter each.
