Goldeyes Add All-American Zbin

WINNIPEG - Winnipeg Goldeyes manager Rick Forney announced today the signing of left-handed rookie pitcher Chris Zbin.

Zbin, 22, just completed his four-year collegiate career with the NCAA Division II Southern Connecticut State University Owls. In 10 starts with the Owls this season, the southpaw from Colchester, Conn. went 5-2 with a 3.54 ERA. He amassed 77 strikeouts in just 56 innings pitched, while holding opposing batters to a .224 average

As a junior in 2011, Zbin went 10-2 with a 1.25 ERA and was a finalist for the Tino Martinez Award, given to the top player in NCAA Division II baseball.

Zbin finished his Owls career as the school's all-time leader in wins (27), strikeouts (337) and innings pitched (297.1) and was an All-American in his sophomore and junior seasons. His senior season was cut short due to an injury in mid-April.

The Goldeyes now have 21 players in its active roster, including 11 pitchers and 10 position players.
