Laredo Lemurs News Release
Laredo, TX - A two run homerun off the bat of Nelson Teilon, off relief pitcher Robert Romero (0-1), in the top of the thirteenth was the difference in the game as the El Paso Diablos (7-22) steel the 3-2 win from the Laredo Lemurs (12-17) on Saturday night at Uni-Trade Stadium.
With the Lemurs up 1-0 in the eighth, the Diablos started the inning by getting Maikol Gonzalez to second base with a leadoff double. The next batter, Enrique Cruz hit a routine ground ball to Jimmy Mojica who fielded cleanly, but threw the ball in the dirt at first base. Gonzalez was going to third on the play and took off for home on the Mojica error to tie the game up at one.
Both starting pitching put in stealer performances as the Lemurs Leonard Giammanco threw five complete, giving up four hits, while striking out two.
The Diablos new addition to the rotation, Juan Peralta threw seven, giving up a run, on four hits, with five stikeouts.
The Laredo Lemurs are home through June 20th. You can get tickets at the Laredo Lemurs box office, online at www.laredolemurs.com, or by phone at 956-7LEMURS. All games at Uni-Trade Stadium are set for 7:30pm.
