
Goaltender Potvin Placed On IR

EL SEGUNDO, CA. - The Los Angeles Kings have placed goaltender Felix Potvin on the injured reserve list with a right knee sprain and have recalled goaltender Cristobal Huet from the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, Kings Senior Vice President/General Manager Dave Taylor announced today.
Potvin, 31, was injured in the first period of last night's Kings-San Jose Sharks game at the HP Pavilion in San Jose. In 42 games this season with the Kings, the 6-foot-1, 190-pound native of Anjou, Quebec, has posted a 17-20-3 record with a 2.66 goals-against -average, a .894 save-percentage and three shutouts. Acquired by the Kings from the Vancouver Canucks for future considerations on Feb. 15, 2001, Potvin has appeared in 607 career NHL games with the Kings, Canucks, New York Islanders and Toronto Maple Leafs posting a 254-252-79 record with a 2.78 goals against average, a .905 save percentage and 28 shutouts.
Huet, 27, has appeared in 25 games for the Monarchs this season posting a 13-7-4 record, a 2.39 goals-against-average and a .918 save-percentage with one shutout. The 6-0, 194-pound native of St. Martin D'Heres, France, was originally selected by the Kings in the seventh round (214th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. He will wear jersey number 35.
The Kings currently have seven players on the injured reserve list including Potvin, center Eric Belanger, left wing Ken Belanger, left wing Kip Brennan, center Brad Chartand, right wing Adam Deadmarsh and defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky.
The Kings (19-24-4-4) host the Ottawa Senators tomorrow at STAPLES Center (10:30 p.m. EST). The game will be broadcast on Fox Sports Net 2, ESPN Radio 710-KSPN and along the Kings Radio Network. The Monarchs (26-10-5-3, 60 points, 2nd-North Division) next home game is scheduled for Friday, January 31 at the Verizon Wireless Arena when they host the Hartford Wolf Pack at 7:35 p.m. The first 3,000 fans at that game will receive a free Monarchs T-Shirt, courtesy of Crowley Foods. The Monarchs and the University of New Hampshire will host the "Maine Event" on Saturday, February 1 at the Verizon Wireless Arena. On that date, the Monarchs are scheduled to entertain the Portland Pirates at 1:05 p.m., and the Wildcats are scheduled to host the University of Maine Black Bears at 7:00 p.m. Sellouts are expected for both games.
