Game Notes: The Rochester Americans host the Houston Aeros tonight at The Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester War Memorial at 7:05 p.m.... The game is part of a two-game series against the Aeros, which ends Friday night at The Blue Cross Arena... Tonight's contest is the third of four meetings between the two teams... The Aeros lead the series with a 2-0-0 record... Tonight's game will be broadcast on WHTK 1280-AM and on the web at www.amerks.com.
Amerk Notes: The Amerks (16-17-11-3, 46 points) are coming off consecutive shutout wins over the Central Division rival Cincinnati Mighty Ducks... Rochester's Mika Noronen recorded his first two wins of the season, making 50 saves in the two victories... He moved into second place on the franchise's all-time shutout list with 15, one shy of tying Bobby Perreault's mark of 16... The wins also broke the Amerks' 10-game winless streak (0-5-4-1)... Rochester is now 2-0-1-0 in its last three games... Goaltender Ryan Miller and forward Denis Hamel remain on recall with the Buffalo Sabres... Winger Jason Botterill leads the team and the AHL with 28 goals... Sean McMorrow leads the league with 225 penalty minutes.
Amerks Legends Night: Tonight, the Amerks will honor two former No. 9s, as Dick Gamble and Jody Gage will drop the ceremonial first puck, and then sign autographs in the upper atrium lobby during the first intermission... A special commemorative autograph sheet has been designed for the first 500 fans, courtesy of Downtown Minute Man Press... Gage leads the Amerks franchise in games played (653), points (728), goals (351) and assists (377), while Gamble is ranked second in the categories of games (569), points (565), goals (300) and is fourth all-time in assists with 265.
Houston Notes: Houston (32-12-4-0) enters the game with the best record in the Western Conference with 68 points... The Aeros are coming off their worst loss of the season, a 7-0 defeat to the Grand Rapids Griffins last night... Despite the road loss, the Aeros are 16-2-2 over their last 20 games... Houston is in the midst of a seven-game road trip... Jean-Guy Trudel leads the Aeros with 50 points (21+29) in 47 games... He is tied for third in the AHL in scoring... Travis Roche has collected eight points in the last six games... Goaltender Frederic Cloutier has won all three of his AHL starts, compiling a 1.33 goals-against average and a .951 save percentage.
Next Game: The final game of the four-game season series against Houston is at 7:35 p.m. on Friday, January 31st... The game will be televised live on Time Warner Cable Channel 98 and shown tape delayed at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 1st...
