Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that goaltender Jussi Rynnas has been recalled by the Maple Leafs and assigned to the Marlies. In separate transactions also announced today, the Royals (i) released forward Justin Kemmerer; (ii) transferred John Scrymgeour from the 3-Day Injured Reserve to the 7-Day Injured Reserve; and (iii) placed forward Casey Haines on the 3-Day Injured Reserve.

Rynnas, who is in his second year of North American pro and hails from Pori, Finland, was assigned to Reading from the Marlies on January 23. In fourteen appearances with Reading, Rynnas compiled a record of 8-5-0-1 with a 3.21 goals against average and a .914 save percentage. Rynnas, who teamed up with Karel St. Laurent to shutout the Wheeling Nailers on February 18, registered a shutout all on his own this past Saturday, when he stopped all thirty-seven shots he faced in a 1-0 win for the Royals. Kemmerer was signed by the Royals yesterday and played in Reading's 3-2 loss to the Greenville Road Warriors that day. In five games with Reading, Kemmerer has recorded one assist.

The Royals return to action on Friday night (March 2, 2012 @ 7:35 pm) when the team will travel to First Arena in Elmira, New York, where they'll kick off fifteen games of hockey action in March with three in a row against the Elmira Jackals. Friday's game night broadcast will start at 7:05 pm with the Red Robin Gourmet Burger Pre-Game Warm-up Show on ESPN Radio 1240 am in Reading. Streaming audio is available free of charge courtesy of America One through the Royals' website, www.royalshockey.com.
