Aces Blank Wranglers 5-0

The Alaska Aces finally found the offense they were in search for against the Las Vegas Wranglers, and maintained the defensive style they've had all week long. Alaska got a pair of goals from Garry Nunn and Dan Kissel, and Adam Courchaine made 39 saves on as many shots to lead the Aces to a 5-0 win over the Wranglers Sunday night at Sullivan Arena. Alaska improved to 36-14-8, on the season, and upped their Western Conference lead to five points over Las Vegas. The Aces now hit the road for three games in Stockton on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The Aces return for their final two home games of the season on March 9 and 10. Tickets are on sale now. The Aces got the breakout period they were looking for to start the hockey game. Alaska took a 2-0 lead with a pair of goals just over three minutes apart. Dan Kissel opened the scoring from the bottom of the slot at 4:11 to make it 1-0 Aces. Garry Nunn then scored on a rebound at 7:32 to extend Alaska's lead. The Aces were anchored by a terrific period from netminder Adam Courchaine who made 11 saves on as many shots.

Alaska extended their lead to four with two more second period goals. Nunn scored his second of the night on a redirection on a power play at 9:44 to make it 3-0 Aces. Following the goal, the next shift featured multiple penalties with a couple of ejections. Aces defenseman fought Las Vegas forward Josh Lunden when Jeff May was trying to fight Anderson. Alaska's Ethan Cox jumped into the fray, and Cox and May were ejected from the game. Later in the period Alaska made it 4-0 on Wes Goldie's 30th goal of the season on a power play at 11:27. Both clubs had 12 shots on goal.

The Aces capped the scoring with the only tally of the third period, when Kissel netted his 30th of the year on a wrist shot from the slot at 17:29. Courchaine did his part to rake in his third shutout of the season, turning aside 16 more Wranglers shots in the third period.

Adam Courchaine (19-10-5) earned the win, making 39 saves on 39 shots. Mitch O'Keefe (4-6-1) took the loss, stopping 20 of 25 shots. The Aces power play went 2-3, while the Wranglers went 0-3. The Aces were outshot by the Wranglers 39-25 in the game.

The Aces now hit the road for three games in Stockton on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The Aces return for their final two home games of the season on Mar. 9th and 10th. Tickets are on sale now.
