Courchaine Recalled to Providence

Goaltender Adam Courchaine has been recalled to the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League by the NHL's Boston Bruins, Aces Head Coach Rob Murray announced on Monday. Courchaine is in his second season with Alaska and leads the club in games played and wins. The Aces hit the road to begin a three-game weekend in Stockton on Friday night. They return for their final two home games of the season on March 9 and 10 when they host the Colorado Eagles. Tickets for those games are on sale now. Courchaine, who turned 23 last Monday, is currently under contract with Boston and was assigned to the Aces on Nov. 2 for his second stint in Alaska. The 6'3", 193 lbs. goaltender has been terrific this season posting a 19-10-5 record with a 2.37 GAA and a .908 save percentage. He is tied for fourth in ECHL wins and fourth in GAA. In 11 of his 34 starts this year, he held his opposition to one or zero goals. Courchaine has been a workhorse for Alaska this year, starting 21 of the last 22 Aces games. On Sunday, he posted a 39 save shutout over Las Vegas for his third clean sheet of the season, tying him for second in the league.

Last year with the Aces, Courchaine ranked fifth in GAA (2.52), and tied for first with four shutouts (4), alongside teammate Gerald Coleman. He started Game Three of the Western Conference Finals in Victoria, and led the Aces to a victory in his professional postseason debut with an impressive 35 save 37 performance. To date, Courchaine has five games of pro experience outside of his time in Alaska, including four games in the AHL with the P-Bruins. He went 2-1 with a 2.06 GAA and a .915 save percentage while playing in Providence. Prior to turning pro, Courchaine played primarily in the Ontario Hockey League. His overall numbers with the Aces include a 36-17-7 record with a 2.38 GAA, a .907 save percentage and seven shutouts.
