
Gladiators Weekly Update

Atlanta Gladiators News Release
The Gladiators (30-16-7-4) still remain in first place in the Eastern Conference and the South Division in the ECHL with 71 points. Last week, the Gwinnett went 1-3-0-0. The Gladiators faced the Cincinnati Cyclones and the division rival South Carolina Stingrays. Netminder Ryan Zapolski led the Gladiators to their only victory of the week with a 2-0 shutout over the Cyclones on Wednesday.
South Carolina Stingrays Preview:
The Gladiators prepare to take on the Stingrays for the 14th and 15th times this season after dropping two games on the road against South Carolina last week. The Stingrays are third in the South Division at 66 points (31-22-3-1) on the season. Stingrays forward Trent Campbell is on a six game point-scoring streak, collecting 11 points on the stretch. Campbell leads the team in scoring with 42 points (15 goals, 27 assists). On Saturday, February 25th, Maxime Lacroix posted a hat trick in the 5-2 win for South Carolina. Pierre-Luc O'Brien is tops for the Stingrays in goals with 21 tallies on the 2011-12 season.
Trenton Titans Preview:
Gwinnett has only faced the Trenton Titans twice this season, going 2-0-0-0 against them. Trenton is 4th in the Atlantic Division, posting a 19-29-3-5 record this season. The Titans leading scorer is Andy Bohmbach with 47 points (20 goals, 27 assists). In their last tilt, the Gladiators collected a 4-1 victory On January 29th. Bohmbach had the lone goal for Titans in the loss.

The Gwinnett Gladiators fell short to the Cincinnati Cyclones in a 3-2 loss on Monday afternoon at the US Bank Arena in Cincinnati, OH. Forwards David Brownschidle and Jonathan Parker each had a goal in the loss.
Wednesday, February 22: Gwinnett Gladiators, 2, Cincinnati Cyclones, 0 - W
Jonathan Parker posted a pair of goals to help lead the Gwinnett Gladiators (30-14-7-4) to a 2-0 shutout win over the Cincinnati Cyclones (24-19-1-7) on Wednesday night at the US Bank Arena in Cincinnati, OH. Ryan Zapolski earned his first shutout of the season for Gwinnett in the win as he recorded 21 saves for the Gladiators.
Saturday, February 25: Gwinnett Gladiators, 2, South Carolina Stingrays, 5 - L
The South Carolina Stingrays used three power play goals and a shorthanded goal to beat the Gwinnett Gladiators 5-2 on Saturday night at the North Charleston Coliseum. Maxime Lacroix netted a hat trick for the Stingrays and Trent Campbell finished with three points. Tyler Murovich and Justin Milo each posted a power play goal in the loss for Gwinnett.
Sunday, February 26: Gwinnett Gladiators, 1, South Carolina Stingrays, 4 - L
The Gwinnett Gladiators dropped their second straight game in a 4-1 loss to the South Carolina Stingrays on Sunday afternoon in Charleston, S.C. The Gladiators opened up a 1-0 first period lead on Bryan Brutlag's 14th goal of the season but South Carolina notched four unanswered goals for the win. Trent Campbell and Matt Scherer each finished with a goal and an assist for the Stingrays.
News & Notes:
Shutout for Zapolski : Netminder Ryan Zapolski collected his first shutout as a Gwinnett Gladiator and his first pro shutout, stopping all 21 shots he faced, in the 2-0 win over the Cincinnati Cyclones on February 22nd. Zapolski has appeared in four games for the Gladiators, posting a 2-1-0-1 record, a 2.19 goals against average and a .927 save percentage on the season for Gwinnett.
Making Plays: Rookie forward Jonathan Parker the first multi-goal game in his professional career with a pair of tallies in the 2-0 shutout over the Cincinnati Cyclones on February 22nd. Parker was recently assigned to the Gladiators after appearing in 37 games with Rochester American in the AHL. With the Americans this year, he collected six points (three goals, three assists). For the Gladiators, Parker has notched four points (three goals, one assist) in his six games as a Gladiator.
Flache with the Helpers: Captain Paul Flache collected three assists last week in four road games for Gwinnett. In the month of February, Flache has recorded six helpers for Gwinnett. The Toronto native has 19 points (5 goals, 14 assists) on the 2011-12 season.
Back from A : Defenseman Dallas Jackson returned to Gwinnett from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers after appearing in three games for the Sound Tigers. Jackson recorded a +2 plus/minus ranking while with Bridgeport. He has recorded 19 points (six goals, 13 assists) in 47 games this season with the Gladiators. His 19 points with Gwinnett currently ranks first among Gladiators defensemen in scoring this season.
Home Sweet Home: The Gladiators return to home ice for their next nine out of ten games. Gwinnett has a solid record at home, posting a 19-5-0-3 at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. The Gladiators collected 12 straight home ice victories earlier this season, and still remain unbeaten in regulation in their past 13 home games.
Upcoming Events:
Pink in the Rink Weekend (March 2-4) - Join the Gladiators for their annual cancer fundraising weekend. The ice at the Arena at Gwinnett Center will be dyed pink for all three games and there will be various fundraising opportunities around the arena (PINK Gladiator Merchandise, various raffles and a silent auction).
Friday, March 2 : Pink the Rink Weekend and Friendly Friday - Adults can purchase a corner level ticket in Section 115 plus a hotdog and beverage for only $20. Kids can get a corner level ticket in Sections 115 and a kids meal for only $15.
Saturday, March 3 : Pink in the Rink Weekend and Girls Gone Gladiators - This is great night for a "Girls Night Out" where all women can interact with 20+ vendors with business.
Sunday, March 4: Pink the Rink Weekend and Kroger Family Sunday - It will be the Gladiators fifth Kroger Family Sunday of the 2011-12 season. Fans can purchase four Premium/Corner Level tickets, Kroger Family Meal Deal and $5 merchandise coupon for only $50.
