Opening Night:

The Solar Bears open their 2013-14 home season tonight, Saturday, October 19, at 7:00 p.m. Be on hand for all the WAWA Opening Night activities. The first 3,000 fans will

receive a souvenir t-shirt, courtesy of WAWA. Tickets on sale at OrlandoSolarBearsHockey.com or Ticketmaster.com. We are expecting a large crowd so come out early and don't miss out on the Solar Bears special opening night introductions and our brand new pre-game video. Amway Center doors will open at 6:00pm.

Matchup:

Orlando and Florida continue their rivalry tonight when the puck drops on the Amway Center ice for the first time in the 2013-14 season. The two clubs met last night at the Germain Arena in Estero, FL, to open the season, with the Everblades collecting the 4-1 win. Florida jumped out to a fast start, scoring the first goal of the game 8:47 into the contest and following it up with a second tally to go ahead 2-0 just over 10 minutes into the game. After the Everblades struck once more early in the second, the Solar Bears got on the board when D Corey Fienhage fired a wrist shot into the top corner of the net, making the score 3-1 as the teams entered the final stanza. Another early period goal by Florida in the third helped them defeat the Solar Bears 4-1.

Solar Bears Notes:

Orlando opens up the home portion of their schedule today... The Solar Bears collected a 4-3-0-0 record against the Everblades on home ice last season... D Zachary Yuen and G Christopher Gibson made their professional debuts last night... The Solar Bears faced four separate 5-on-3 penalty situations in yesterday's game... Orlando killed off all eight penalties they took yesterday to start the season 8-for-8 on the penalty kill... F Josh Caron and F Shane Bakker were placed on the 21-day IR earlier this week.

Everblades Notes:

F Matthew Pistilli, who finished fifth in points in the ECHL last season, had two assists in yesterday's contest. F Danick Gauthier also had two points (1g, 1a)... G Kristers Guslevskis earned his first professional win stopping 20 of 21 shots last night... The Everblades had two players finish the night with +3 ratings yesterday in D Mike Cornell and D Jordan Henry.
