Tonight's Matchup: The San Francisco Bulls (1-0-0-0) go back at it again against the Alaska Aces (0-1-0-0) to complete their two-game set, tonight at Sullivan Arena in the nation's 49th state.
Yesterday, the Bulls started the regular season in fine fashion, defeating the Aces in Alaska, 2-1, in a nail-biter of a game. Jordan Morrison put the Bulls on top in the early going of the first period, after re-directing a Scott Langdon point-shot. Alaska tied the game in the second period, setting up a pivotal third period. With less than seven minutes to play in the final period of regulation, Bulls forward Brett Parnham gathered in his rebound and snuck a sharp-angle shot by netminder Joni Ortio for the game-winner. Mark Lee and Dale Mitchell earned the assists. Bulls netminder Tyler Beskorowany was magnificent in net, stopping 44 of 45 shots to give San Francisco their first season opening win in team history. Beskorowany's 44 saves in a game set a Bulls team record. Last season, Thomas Heemskerk turned aside 43 shots in a game.
In last night's contest, alternate captain Mark Lee dropped the gloves for the team's first fight of the season. Kyle Bigos and Ryan McDonough each made their North American professional debuts. McDonough has played in more 200 professional games in Europe.
Once again, Park 77 Bar is hosting a Watch Party, beginning at 8 pm. Park 77 is located at 77 Cambon Drive in the Parkmerced complex in San Francisco. Rawhide and the Cow Belles will be handing out prizes during the intermission.
Following tonight's game, the Bulls continue with their season-long eight-game road trip, which moves to Utah against the Grizzlies on Wednesday.
