
Countdown to Face-Off: K-Wings at IceMen

Tonight begins the 2013-2014 season and a home and home series for the Kalamazoo Wings and the Evansville IceMen. The two teams will meet again next Saturday, October 26th at Wings Stadium during the K-Wings home opener.
For the K-Wings tonight starts their sixth season in the ECHL and their 40th season overall. Last season Kalamazoo finished third in the North Division and didn't qualify for the postseason. The K-Wings went 7-3-1-1 against the IceMen last year.
Playing in no preseason games, this evening is the very first opportunity for fans to see the IceMen. Last season, Evansville finished fourth in the North Division and didn't qualify for the postseason. During the offseason, the IceMen hired Jeff Pyle as their new head coach.

Roster Moves
Earlier today, the K-Wings received forward David Pacan from the Utica Comets and defenseman Jeremie Blain was reassigned from the Vancouver Canucks. Yesterday, Kalamazoo released forward Ben Wilson.
Familiar Feel Kalamazoo's roster should have a familiar feel to fans. Of the K-Wings 21 players currently on their roster, 11 of them have played for the K-Wings in the careers.
Offensive in the Preseason Kalamazoo went 2-1-0-0 in three preseason games. The K-Wings outscored their opponents 10-6 in the preseason.
Starting Strong Since joining the ECHL, the K-Wings have been great on opening night. Kalamazoo is 4-0-0-0 in their ECHL season opening games, outscoring their opponents 18-4 in those games.
