
Game Preview: Stingrays Open 21st Season Tonight in Reading

North Charleston, S.C. -The South Carolina Stingrays kick off the 21st season of hockey in the Lowcountry and the 2013-14 campaign tonight against the defending Kelly Cup Champion Reading Royals at 7:35 at Santander Arena in Reading, Pennsylvania. Experience Leads the Way
Head Coach Spencer Carbery begins his third season behind the Stingrays bench tonight and brought back 11 players from the 2012-13 roster including team captain Kevin Quick (64 games), defensemen Luka Vidmar (62) and Scooter Vaughan (50) and forwards Chris Langkow (46) and Andrew Cherniwchan (50).
Carbery Adds Depth in Offseason
Forwards Chad Painchaud (306 career ECHL games), Jordan Owens (311 career AHL games) and Igor Gongalsky (182 career ECHL games and 110 career AHL contests) joined the Stingrays in the offseason and are expected to make their Stingrays debuts tonight.
The Stingrays continue a three-game season-opening road trip tomorrow, Sunday, October 20 against the Royals at 4:05 p.m. at Santander Arena and celebrate Opening Night, Stingrays Alumni Game, Zooperstars! and 2013-14 schedule giveaway presented by Savage Law Firm at the North Charleston Coliseum on Saturday, October 26 against their in-state rivals, the Greenville Road Warriors, at 7:05 p.m.
Hall of Fame players such as Jason Fitzsimmons, Dave Seitz, Brett Marietti, Rick Vaive, Rob Concannon and Matt Scherer along with fan-favorites Johann Kroll, Trevor Johnson and more return to the Coliseum ice for a pregame Alumni Game before the Stingrays battle the Greenville Road Warriors later that night.
