TONIGHT:

The defending Pacific Division Champion Ontario Reign (0-0-0-0) open the 2013-14 season against rival Bakersfield Condors (0-0-0-1). The Reign had their best season ever with 99 points (46-19-3-4) and the Condors suffered a rough year finishing at the bottom of the ECHL standings with just 50 points (22-44-2-4).

SEASON & HOME OPENER CURSE:

Ontario has enjoyed many wins at Citizens Business Bank Arena, 100 to be exact, but they have yet to earn their first win of the season on home ice. In the team's inaugural season (2008-09) the Reign beat the Las Vegas Wranglers 4-1 at home, but they earned their first win of the season (2-1) at Bakersfield one week before.

GUESS WHO'S BACK...BACK AGAIN:

The Reign's roster has 10 returners from 2012-13 with Van de Mosselaer, Clune, Burt, Register, Springer, Couture, Calla, Sheen, DaSilva, and Lamoureux. For the first time since 2011 Berube and Carrozzi will not be between the pipes for the Reign and they have two new goalies from the Kings and Jets organizations.

HELP FROM ABOVE:

Ontario brought on an affiliation with the Winnipeg Jets (NHL) and St. John's IceCaps (AHL) this season, adding to the LA Kings affiliation. The Reign have received six players from the Jets system so far. Sol, Cisse, O'Brien, Bell, and Hutchinson were all assigned to the Reign from the Jets and/or IceCaps, and Niederberger and Roach came from the Monarchs.

REIGNING ROOKIES:

In the pre-season, the Reigns young guns came out hard racking up a combined eight points (4g, 4a) and +12. The younger players weren't afraid of matching a very physical Las Vegas and combined for 28 penalty minutes - including fighting majors from J.T. Barnett, Zach Bell, Matt White, and recently released defenseman, Mathias Joggi.
