Bulls Win Season Opener in Alaska, 2-1

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - In their season opener, the San Francisco Bulls topped the Alaska Aces, 2-1, Friday night at Sullivan Arena on a dramatic third-period goal by Brett Parnham. Tyler Beskorowany put on a stellar performance in goal, stopping 44 of 45 shots to earn the victory,

Alternate captain Jordan Morrison opened the scoring on a deflection off a Scott Langdon point shot, 2:22 into the first period to give the Bulls an early 1-0 lead. It was Morrison's first regular-season goal against Alaska as a Bull, after grabbing five assists in nine regular-season games against Alaska last season. Alaska out-shot the Bulls 15-5 in the first period.

Tim Coffman evened the score on a breakaway shot that beat Beskorowany, 4:55 into the middle frame. Peter Sivak, the Bulls leading scorer last season, had the lone assist on Coffman's tally. Alaska held a 28-11 lead in shots after 40 minutes.

Parnham, making his regular season debut for the Bulls, played the hero after putting San Francisco ahead, 2-1, with 6:16 remaining in the third period. Parnham picked up his own rebound and tucked the puck past goaltender Joni Ortio for the game-winner. Mark Lee and Dale Mitchell picked up the assists. Beskorowany faced a flurry of shots at the end of the game, but stood tall to seal the victory.
