Orlando and Gwinnett meet up for the second of back-to-back contests after the Gladiators took a 1-0 victory over the Solar Bears last night. The lone goal of the contest was recorded at 5:31 of the first period on a slap shot from the blue line off the stick of D Cody Brookwell. Both goalies were perfect for the remainder of the game, with Solar Bears netminder Hannu Toivonen stopping 25 of the 26 shots he faced in the game. There were only four penalties assessed during the game, with each team getting one power play chance in the game.
Solar Bears Notes:
D Bryce Lampman has played in 399 North American professional games. He is expected to play his 400th game tonight... The Solar Bears were held to 22 shots in the game last night, their lowest total of the season... Orlando has held their opponent scoreless on the power play for three straight games, killing off nine penalties over that span... D Kyle Medvec has been placed on reserve and did not make the trip to Gwinnett... G Mike Brodeur and D Mike Liambas remain on the 21-day Injured Reserve, although Liambas has resumed skating drills... The Solar Bears have two players on recall to the Aeros. D Josh Caron skated in Houston's game on Sunday, logging five penalty minutes. D Corbin Baldwin also played on Sunday, picking up two penalty minutes. G John Curry was recalled by Houston today.
Gladiators Notes:
Gwinnett has scored the game's first goal in 13 of the 18 games they have played. They are 12-0-1 in those situations... F Doug Jones is second among ECHL rookies in points with 14... The Gladiators lead the ECHL with 2.06 goals allowed per game... F Christian Oullett leads all rookies with three game winning goals.
