Royals Defeat Road Warriors 5-2

Reading, PA: Reading continued their win streak tonight against the Road Warriors reaching 11 games with a 5-2 victory.

The Royals began the first period with good tempo and scored 3:47 into the game with a goal from Adam Comrie. The very next face-off, Steven Delisle and Dustin Stevenson would square off for a fight. The momentum would shift in the Road Warriors favor with a goal from Jeremy Gouchie on a rebound opportunity. T.J. Reynolds would fire a shot from the blue line that went to Gouchie for his third of the year. Greenville would take the lead with a powerplay goal from Matt MacKenzie. Sebastien Piche gave MacKenzie a pass that was blasted in off a one timer. Reading would tie the game back up with a goal from David Vallorani to end the period's scoring.

Neither team would score in the second period but the Royals continued a heavy offensive attack outshooting Greenville 11-6 in the period. Only one penalty was assessed in the period with a Stevenson hooking call in the closing minutes that the Road Warriors could not convert on.

An onslaught of penalties began in the third which started the scoring again for Reading. Denny Urban would score twice in 1:15, the first coming on the powerplay. Urban set up a slapshot from the point that rocketed past Nathan Lieuwen. The second goal, Urban's ninth on the year, would put the Royals up 4-2. David Marshall would score another goal for the Royals with his third of the year and the third goal in 3:02. Philipp Grubauer stopped 28 shots to record the victory. Lieuwen saved 32 of 37 shots and was the losing goaltender.

The Road Warriors will finish out the road trip tomorrow night in Trenton against the Titans at 7:05 p.m.

On Wednesday night the Road Warriors will return home against Reading at 7 p.m. for Warrior Appreciation Night. The night will be dedicated to the men and women who keep our country safe. There will be discounted tickets for all active and retired military, police, firefighters and first responders. In addition the Road Warriors will wear special Warrior Appreciation Night jerseys in honor of those who protect us. After the game the Road Warriors will auction of the jerseys to benefit the Wounded Warrior Regiment and Rama Memorial Scholarship Fund for the Greenville Fire Department.
