The Yin And Yang Of 2012

Strange opposites highlight TRE-EVN matchup and the early ECHL season

Records have turned on a dime and some statistics don't seem to match team performance in the early part of the 2012-13 season.

Along with the Titans flip to the negative, Reading has done the opposite. After a 1-5-0-1 start - including two losses to Trenton - the Royals have ripped off a franchise-best 10 straight, including five over the Titans. Their PP hasn't helped at all in that run, as they are still under 10 percent (9.3) on the year and haven't scored in 25-consecutive tries on the Titans. Penalties don't seem to bother Royals either - they have the 2nd worst mark in the Eastern Conference with 324 PIM.

Power plays aren't the issue for Evansville, though. Last in the North and despite the second-worst Goal Differential in the league (-21), the IceMen have one of the better PP units at 19.6% (8th ranked). Their 18 goals (in 92 Opps) is nearly half of their goal production of 41. They are even more dangerous on the road at 22.2% (8 G-36 Opps, ranked 4th) and sport a better road record (3-3-0-1), then at home (2-8).
