Curry Recalled to Houston, Wild Send Kuemper to Solar Bears

Orlando, FL - The Orlando Solar Bears announced today that their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Houston Aeros, have recalled G John Curry while their NHL affiliate the Minnesota Wild have reassigned G Darcy Kuemper from Houston to Orlando. F Derrick Burnett has rejoined the roster and is expected to appear in the lineup tonight against Gwinnett.

Kuemper (6'4", 212 lbs.) has appeared in four games with the Houston Aeros (AHL) this season, collecting a 3-1-0 record, 2.16 GAA, and .914 save percentage, along with [image: Darcy Kuemper]earning a shutout on a 33-save effort against Milwaukee on October 27. He split last season, his first as a professional, between Houston and the Ontario Reign (ECHL), and in eight games with Ontario he posted a 1.74 GAA and .941 save percentage while going 7-1-0-0.

He played three seasons with the Red Deer Rebels in the WHL (Western Hockey League) from 2008-2011, and in his final season with Red Deer he earned 13 shutouts to lead the WHL and also led the league in wins (45), GAA (1.86), and save percentage (.933). That season, he earned accolades as both the WHL Player and Goaltender of the Year.

Curry has appeared in 14 games with the Solar Bears this season and currently ranks first in the ECHL in minutes played with 829 and is second in saves with 379.

Burnett has played in four games with Orlando, earning seven penalty minutes. He received his first professional fighting major November 17 against the Kalamzoo Wings as part of a 4-2 victory for the Solar Bears.

The Orlando Solar Bears, the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Minnesota Wild and AHL's Houston Aeros, are in their Out of Hibernation season and play all of their home games at the 2012 Street and Smith's Sports Business Journal Sports Facility of the Year, the Amway Center.
