Matchup:

Orlando and Gwinnett come back together after an exciting match up last night. The Solar Bears scored first on a goal by F Scott Tanski, but midway through the second frame the Gladiators took control with a 3-1 lead. Orlando came storming back, as F Ryan Berard and F Dale Mahovsky pushed the score to 3-3, and D Michael Wilson snapped the tie when he scored with 16 seconds left in the period. The score remained 4-3 until just past the halfway point of the third, when the Gladiators tied up the contest, and then Gwinnett took control of the game with 3:24 to play in regulation to defeat the Solar Bears 5-4. The one goal differential was nothing out of the ordinary, as now eight of the 10 games between Orlando and Gwinnett have been decided by just a single goal. The Solar Bears and Gladiators come together tonight, and then wrap up their season series on Sunday afternoon once again in Gwinnett. Orlando is 2-7-1-0 against the Gladiators this season.

Solar Bears Notes:

F Ryan Berard scored his first professional goal last night in the second period... Berard's goal was assisted by D Jason Cohen and F Micheal Lysyj, who eached earned their first professional points on the play... Last night's game marked the first time this season that the Solar Bears have lost in regulation when scoring at least four goals. Orlando is now 16-1-2-2 when scoring at least four goals in a game... Orlando is 15-8-3-3 in one goal games. Six of their eight losses in one goal contests have come at the hands of the Gladiators... D Michael Wilson is tied for eighth among defensemen with 32 points. He tied for fourth among defensemen with 27 assists... The Solar Bears will be without the services of forward C.J. Severyn today, as he was recalled to the Charlotte Checkers (AHL) on Wednesday... C Mathew Sisca was placed on the 21-day IR last week... G Mike Brodeur, D Josh Caron, F Dan Dries, D Jesse Dudas, and D Sean Lorenz remain on the 21-day IR.

Gladiators Notes:

Gwinnett will be without ECHL leading scorer Casey Pierro-Zabotel for the second straight game, as he joined Solar Bears forward C.J. Severyn in Charlotte (AHL) on Wednesday... F Doug Jones and D Sacha Guimond are sixth and seventh among rookies in points. Jones has collected 45 points and leads all rookies with 202 shots while Guimond has 44 points. Guimond is also fourth among rookies in assists with 32 and tied for second among rookies with nine power play goals. He leads ECHL defensemen in each of those categories... The Gladiators are third with 32.38 shots per game... F Evan Bloodoff is tied for first among rookies with three shorthanded goals and is fifth among rookies with five game winning goals... Gwinnett is 16th on the power play at 15.8 percent (43-for-273) and 11th on the penalty kill at 83.1 percent (221-for-266)... F Justin Bowers leads the Gladiators in assists (39) and points (54), F Evan Bloodoff leads the team in goals (20).
