From the Notes

ABOUT SUNDAY: The Indians scored 10 unanswered runs on Sunday to overcome a 7-2 deficit en route to a 12-7, series-clinching win. Eric Wood cranked a three-run homer off Jack Leathersich to cap a five-run sixth inning, giving the Tribe a 9-7 advantage they would not relinquish. All nine starters recorded at least one hit for the Tribe, with seven of them tallying multi-hit performances. Kevin Newman, Christopher Bostick and Ryan Lavarnway all had three hits apiece, while Austin Meadows and Wood each led the way by driving in three runs.

HELLO, NEWMAN!: Kevin Newman is 12-for-18 (.667) over his last four games, recording two hits Thursday, three on Friday, four on Saturday and three more on Sunday. His strong finish to the May 7-13 week earned him his second career weekly award and first in the International League. He became the second Tribe player to win a weekly honor already in 2018, joining right-hander Nick Kingham who was the recipient of the IL Pitcher of the Week award on April 16.

MORE ABOUT KEVIN: For the week of May 7-13, Newman ranked first among IL offensive leaders in hits (14), average (.519) and on-base percentage (.552), second in OPS (1.330) and runs scored (7) and tied for sixth in slugging percentage (.778). He logged his first career Triple-A home run in Saturday's 2-1 win, a leadoff blast off Adam Wilk -- the third leadoff home run of his career. He elevated his average from .250 to .309 in the process, placing him eighth overall in batting in the IL entering tonight's game.

FANTASTIC FOUR: Austin Meadows, Kevin Newman, Kevin Kramer and Jordan Luplow combined for a monster weekend at the plate against Columbus, collecting a .393 average (22-for-56) with one home run, five doubles, nine RBI and 12 runs scored. Each player ranks among the top 30 prospects in Pittsburgh's farm system according to MLB Pipeline: Meadows (No. 2), Newman (No. 7), Kramer (No. 8), Luplow (No. 22).

FIRE EMOJIS: The Indians lead the IL in average (.280), doubles (91), triples (13) and slugging percentage (.430). The Tribe also rank second in fewest strikeouts (242) and OBP (.337), third overall in stolen bases (27) and fourth in runs scored (148 - 4.35 runs per game).

FIVE STRAIGHT WITH A DINGER: Indianapolis totaled a professional baseball low one home run through its first 17 games of the season; they've clubbed 16 long balls in the last 17 games. The Indians have hit at least one home run in five straight games, their longest streak since a five-game stretch from Aug. 2-6, 2016. Indy hasn't homered in six straight games since a 10-game stretch from June 9-19, 2013. All 10 of those games were played against Norfolk and Durham.

BY THE NUMBERS - 14: Kevin Newman racked up 14 hits from May 7-13, the most in Triple-A and third-highest total in professional baseball during that stretch, trailing only Low-A Augusta's Logan Baldwin and High-A Potomac's Carter Kieboom (15).
