Today's Game
This evening, the Bisons take on the Pawtucket Red Sox in game two of the three game series (6:15 p.m.). The Herd will return to Coca-Cola Field following a scheduled off day to begin a seven game homestand on May 18. The team welcomes Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for the first three games, followed by a four game series against Syracuse.
Last Game: PAW 6, BUF 5/10
OF Dalton Pompey hit two home runs in the Bisons' 6-5 extra innings loss to Pawtucket on Monday. C Danny Jansen had three hits and added his team leading 16th RBI in the eighth inning, while 2B Devon Travis drove in the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th inning. However, the PawSox scored twice in their last at bat to secure the win.
Today's Starter: RHP Chris Rowley
RHP Chris Rowley is making his sixth start of the season. He is coming off of his first no decision of the season in a six-inning outing against Lehigh Valley on May 10. Rowley has recorded a quality start in each of his last three starts for Buffalo, going 2-0 over that time. He currently sits fifth in the International League with a 1.93ERA, one of two Bisons' starters with a top five ERA in the IL.
Pawtucket (3-4)
The Bisons and Red Sox will play a total of 20 times this season. Buffalo opened the season taking two out of three games at McCoy Stadium, while Pawtucket returned the favor later in April at Coca-Cola Field. Following this series, the Herd will play the PawSox next June 19-21 in Rhode Island before hosting them June 25-28 at Coca-Cola Field.
Dalton Pompey
OF Dalton Pompey rejoined the Buffalo's lineup on Monday and hit a pair of home runs. The switch hitter became the first Bison since Trevor Crowe (7/31/08 @DUR) to hit one HR from each side of the plate in a game. Pompey's HR in the 3rd inning came from the right side of the plate, while he hit his 8th inning solo HR from the left side.
Danny Jansen
C Danny Jansen was 3-4 at the plate on Monday, increasing his batting average to .311 entering play on Tuesday. That is good enough for a tie for sixth in the IL batting race. His two doubles give him a total of seven on the season, tied for the most on the team.
Bisons Bits
Monday's extra innings ballgame was the second against the PawSox in four games at McCoy Stadium. The Herd won 4-3 in 12 innings on April 9...It was also Buffalo's fifth extra inning game of the season, the Herd is now 3-2 in extra innings, and 1-2 against Pawtucket in those games as well.
Transactions
Prior to Monday's game, OF Dalton Pompey was added to the Bisons' roster, along with RHP Josh DeGraaf and INF Lourdes Gurriel Jr. INF Tyler Ladendorf was placed on the Disabled List, retroactive to 5/13, as well.
Blue Jays Update
Toronto (21-20) enjoyed a scheduled off day in New York on Monday, with the first of two games against the Mets beginning tonight (7:10 p.m.) at Citi Field. LHP Jaime Garcia starts the opening game of the series, while former Bisons' starter LHP J.A. Happ takes the mound tomorrow afternoon. The Jays will return home on Thursday to begin a four game series against Oakland following Wednesday's matinee.
