
Knights Drop Tuesday's Opener to Mud Hens 3-2

(TOLEDO, OH) -- RHP Dylan Covey was sharp over six strong innings on Tuesday, but the Charlotte Knights dropped game one of their three-game series against the Toledo Mud Hens by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday from Fifth Third Field in Toledo, OH. Covey allowed just one unearned run on four hits over six innings. He struck out six batters and walked just one.
Right fielder Mason Robbins and third baseman Patrick Leonard had two hits apiece for the Knights in the opener. Robbins drove home Charlotte's first run of the game with an RBI triple in the top of the fourth inning. Robbins later scored in the inning on a passed ball. The Knights had a 2-0 lead at that point.
The Mud Hens cut the lead in half in the bottom of the fifth inning when Kody Eaves scored on a 5-4 forceout against Covey. Two innings later, the "Hens tied the game and then ultimately took the lead against the Knights in the bottom of the seventh. Toledo second baseman Harold Castro lined an RBI single off Charlotte RHP Tyler Danish (1-2, 4.30) to tie the game at 2-2. Castro would later score the go-ahead run on a wild pitch from Danish, who was saddled with the loss out of the team's bullpen.
Toledo LHP Josh Turley (3-1, 3.58) earned the win after he allowed just two runs over seven innings of work. Former Charlotte Knights RHP Phillippe Aumont pitched two scoreless innings to notch the save for the Mud Hens. It was his second of the season.
The Knights will continue their three-game series against the Mud Hens on Wednesday.
