The Story Coming In

The Medicine Hat Tigers have won two straight games since returning to action after the holiday break. The Tabbies defeated the Kootenay ICE 4-1 Friday and the Victoria Royals 4-2 on Saturday. Captain James Hamblin scored a pair of goals while Ryan Jevne and Ryan Chyzowski added singles in both games. Affiliate goaltender Garin Bjorklund earned his first career WHL start and win in Saturday's contest against the Royals, stopping 21 of 23 shots faced.

Tigers vs. Hurricanes

Tonight's clash between the Tigers and the Hurricanes will be their sixth meeting this season. Medicine Hat is 2-3-0-0 against Lethbridge so far and the last time the Tigers beat the 'Canes was 4 -3 in overtime on October 19th, 2018. Tabbies' Captain James Hamblin scored on a penalty shot 4:08 into overtime to win the game. Over the past five years, the Orange and Black are 11-14-1-0 against the 'Canes.

The Lethbridge Hurricanes have split their two games this weekend, losing 6-2 Friday night to the Victoria Royals before defeating the Kootenay ICE 8-4 Saturday. Pittsburgh Penguins' 2017 Draft pick Jordy Bellerive and 2019 NHL Draft Eligible Dylan Cozens have been the most dangerous Hurricanes against the Tigers this season. Bellerive has 3 goals and 4 assists while Cozens has 4 goals and 3 assists against the Tabbies this season.

Tigers Talent

Ryan Chyzowski led the way in the Tigers' 4-2 victory over the Victoria Royals last night with 1 goal and 2 assists while earning the first star of the night. The 18-year-old Kamloops native is a skilled forward with a nose for the puck who isn't afraid to mix it up. Chyzowski has 13 goals and 18 assists so far this season and he will be looking to build on those numbers in tonight's contest.

Captain's Corner

Captain James Hamblin scored twice on Saturday night and he now has 21 goals so far this season which makes this his third season in a row to score 20+ goals. The 19-year-old Edmonton product was drafted in the first round of the 2014 Bantam draft by the Tigers and since then he has suited up for 231 games, scoring 67 goals and assisting on 90. Captain Hamblin is a hard-working, skilled, two-way forward who will look to make an impact in both ends of the ice tonight.

Affiliate goaltender Garin Bjorklund has joined the Tigers while Mads Søgaard is playing for Team Denmark at the World Juniors. Bjorklund has a 9-3-1 record, 0.917 SAV% and 2.33 GAA with the Calgary Buffaloes in the AMHL so far this season.

Bjorklund earned his first career WHL start and win last night against the Royals. Bjorklund posted a 2.00 GAA and a .913 SAV% and earned the third star of the game.

Captain James Hamblin has a multi-game point streak going with 10 points (8G, 2A) in the last 7 games.
