Prince George Cougars News Release
PRINCE GEORGE, BC - The Prince George Cougars suffered their first loss after the Christmas break, dropping a 6-1 decision to the Everett Silvertips on Saturday at Angel of the Winds Arena.
Ryan Schoettler scored the lone Cougars goal, on the power-play, midway through the second period; his first goal since October 27th. Isaiah DiLaura suffered the loss in net, kicking out 30 of 36 shots.
The Silvertips, the top team in the Western Conference, have now won four-straight and they haven't lost in regulation in 16 consecutive games. Martin Fasko-Rudas and Jackson Berezowski each scored twice and defenseman Artyom Minulin chipped in with three assists. Max Palaga earned the win, stopping 24 of 25 shots.
Everett got out to a fast start, scoring three goals in a five-minute span in the first to go up 3-0 through 20-minutes. They added two more in the middle frame and one in the third period.
Saturday had some bite, as four fighting majors were handed out and the two teams combined for more than 80 penalty-minutes. The Cougars wrap up their three-game road trip on Sunday afternoon against the Kamloops Blazers.
