Behind a stellar debut from newly acquired pitcher Michael Fulmer, the Erie SeaWolves knocked off the Portland Sea Dogs 3-0 in the opening game of the three game series on Tuesday at Jerry Uht Park.

The SeaWolves opened the scoring in the fourth inning when JaCoby Jones, singled, stole second and scored on a James Robbins opposite-field RBI single for a 1-0 lead.

Erie added another run in the sixth inning to take a 2-0 lead. Jones walked with one out, stole second and reached third on an error. Robbins once again went to the opposite-field with a base hit, scoring Jones.

In the eighth, Erie added an insurance run. Wynton Bernard crushed a lead off double to center, and moved to third on a Jason Krizan groundout. Jones lifted a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Bernard for a 3-0 lead.

Fulmer (7-2) was brilliant in his SeaWolves debut. He tossed 6.2 shutout innings, allowing two hits with two walks and six strikeouts.

Two relievers, Slade Smith and Matt Crouse, tossed the final 2.1 scoreless frames, preserving the Erie shutout.

The shutout win was the SeaWolves first since August 19, 2014 against Binghamton. At 120 games, it was the longest streak among all full-season MiLB teams without a shutout win. Tonight's winner, Fulmer, was the losing pitcher for Binghamton during Erie's last shutout win.
