Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release
BINGHAMTON, NY - The Binghamton Mets hit three home runs for their second straight home game, beating the Bowie Baysox, 8-2, Tuesday night at NYSEG Stadium in a matchup of first place teams. Josh Rodriguez hit his second grand slam of the season, breaking the game open in the fifth inning. Tyler Pill earned the win in his first B-Met start of the season.
Binghamton used a two-out rally in the first inning to score before their opponent for the first time in four games. Rodriguez singled with two outs, and was driven in on a Brock Peterson double into the left field corner one batter later.
Binghamton would use their big bats to widen the lead in the second. With one out, Jonathan Galvez lined a home run to left field. It was his first home run in a B-Met uniform. Two batters later, Jared King drilled a homer to left for his fourth of the season.
Working with a three run lead, Pill proceeded to retire 11 of the next 12 batters he faced. Already leading 3-0 at the half way point, Binghamton loaded up the bases without the benefit of a hit in the fifth inning. Following a couple of Bowie miscues, Rodriguez made the Baysox pay by drilling his second grand slam of the season off the advertisements in left field. It was his league-leading 17th homer and gave the B-Mets a 7-0 lead.
Bowie would get on the board a half inning later, piecing together back-to-back doubles off of Pill, with Brandon Snyder driving in the run. Pill would walk the next batter he faced, ending his night after 5-1/3 innings. Jeff Walters came on and retired both batters he faced, leaving two on base.
With an out in the seventh inning, Drew Dosch reach on a triple that was lost in the lights and dropped between Joe Benson and Jared King in right-center field. He came down to score one batter later, when Ozzie Martinez lined a single to right.
Leading 7-2, Binghamton would add on in the last of the eighth for good measure. After Jason Garcia balked two men into scoring position, Jared King delivered an RBI infield single to second for his second RBI of the game.
Pill (1-0) earned the win, allowing a run in 5-1/3 innings in his return to Binghamton. Sean Bierman (0-1) took the loss in his organizational debut, surrendering seven runs in five innings.
The B-Mets (60-48) continue their series with Bowie Wednesday at 6:35 PM. RHP Robert Gsellman gets the ball against LHP Ariel Miranda. The Horizons Federal Credit Union Pregame Show can be heard starting at 6:20 PM on Newsradio 1290 WNBF and the Binghamton Mets channel on TuneIn.

It was his first career home run from the right side of the plate...Binghamton has scored seven or more runs in Tyler Pill's last five regular season starts at Double-A...Four of the B-Mets last six wins have been by six or more runs.
