LAST GAME: The B-Mets were shut out for the seventh time this season, falling 2-0 to Richmond Sunday afternoon at The Diamond. Binghamton managed seven hits, including two from TJ Rivera, Gavin Cecchini and Vince Belnome. Matt Koch took the loss in a spot start, allowing two runs in three innings. Binghamton split the four game series with Richmond.
BINGHAMTON STARTER: RHP Tyler Pill is making his first start with Binghamton since August 27, 2014. It's his 27th game in Double-A and first against Bowie. After spending 2014 with Binghamton, Pill spent the first four months of this season with Las Vegas (AAA). Pill went winless in his last seven starts, with the team losing each of the final six. Pill posted a quality start in just four of his 17 Las Vegas starts. The righty is 10-6 in his B-Mets career.
BOWIE STARTER: LHP Sean Bierman is making his first career start in Double-A. Bierman spent his first three seasons in affiliated baseball with three different organizations (Tampa Bay, Chicago-AL, Atlanta), never passing High-A. The southpaw began this season in independent baseball, going 10-2 with a 1.79 ERA in 17 starts with the Somerset Patriots of the Atlantic League. In his career, he has posted a 2.51 ERA in 75 games, 62 starts.
VS. BAYSOX: Binghamton is 2-1 against Bowie this season, outscoring the Baysox 18-10. The B-Mets held Bowie to one run or less in both victories. This is the final series between these two teams in 2015. Binghamton is 13-7 against Bowie in the past three seasons, winning the season series each of the past two years.
STRANGERS: This is the Baysox's lone trip to Binghamton this season. Bowie has made just one trip to NYSEG Stadium in four of the last five seasons. Binghamton took three of four from Bowie in their lone visit in 2014.
SEVEN UP: Binghamton has not lost any of their past seven series, going 5-0-2. The B-Mets are coming off a four game series split in Richmond with the Flying Squirrels.
SINGLE'S HITTERS: Binghamton's last 19 hits have all been singles. The B-Mets have gone 25 innings without an extra base hit. Binghamton is 4-5 in games without an extra base hit this season, including Saturday's win vs. Richmond. The B-Mets were held to 20 total hits, and a .200 team batting average, in the last three games of the series.
LEFTY: The B-Mets will be facing lefty starters in each of the next two games. Binghamton is batting .262 against LHP this season compared to .252 against RHP.
START ME UP: Gavin Cecchini is batting .462 in his last nine games. He is 13-for-24 with six RBI in his last five games. Cecchini is batting .391 since July 1st.
BIG RETURN: TJ Rivera is 4-for-8 in his return to the B-Mets, recording multiple hits in both games. Rivera hit .306 in 54 games with Las Vegas (AAA). Overall, Rivera is batting .315 this season. The infielder has only ended one season with a sub 300 batting average (.289 in 2012). He's 9-for-21 (.429) in his last five games with Binghamton.
FRESH START: Vince Belnome is 5-for-11 with three RBI in this first three starts with the B-Mets.
CLUTCH: Nine of Joe Benson's 11 RBI have been go-ahead runs, while another RBI tied the game. He delivered the go-ahead run in Saturday's win with a pinch-hit RBI single in the sixth inning.
MILESTONE: Brock Peterson has 199 career home runs.
NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The B-Mets continue their series with Bowie Wendesday at 6:35 PM. RHP Robert Gsellman starts against LHP Ariel Miranda.
