Akron RubberDucks News Release

Akron's Bradley Zimmer crushed a three-run double during a pivotal, six-run rally in the third inning Tuesday night, as the RubberDucks claimed a 9-5, comeback victory over the Harrisburg Senators at Metro Bank Park.

Turning Point

Trailing 4-0, the RubberDucks (57-53) came off the mat with six runs in the third inning off Senators starter Colin Bates (4-2). After RBI singles by Bryson Myles and Yandy Diaz made the score 4-2, Zimmer stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and smacked a gapper to deep left-center to clear the bases and give the RubberDucks a 5-4 lead. After Bates was lifted in favor of reliever Dakota Bacus, Ronny Rodriguez stroked a double to drive in Zimmer to extend the lead to 6-4.

Mound Presence

Ryan Merritt (9-7) recovered after allowing four runs in the first inning to work seven innings and pick up his team-high ninth win. Although he gave up 10 hits and five runs, only three of the runs were earned. Merritt walked only one and struck out three.

Duck Tales

Diaz was 3-4, with a double and an RBI. He also walked and stole a base, and end the night with a .307 average. Rodriguez was 2-5, with two doubles and two RBI. In 41 games since coming back from hamate surgery, Rodriguez has 24 RBI. Carlos Moncrief chipped in a pair of hits, including a two-run single in the 7th inning.
