Fritsch Called Up To AHL Norfolk

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that defenseman Jamie Fritsch has been called up to the American Hockey League's Norfolk Admirals. This marks his first call-up to the AHL.

The rookie out of the University of New Hampshire has posted two assists and 27 penalty minutes in 32 games with the Gladiators this season. While at New Hampshire, the 24-year-old Hooksett, Maryland native registered 11 goals and 28 assists in 146 total games.

Fritsch made his professional debut with the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers in April of last year following his senior campaign at New Hampshire. He signed an amateur tryout contract and appeared in one game, going scoreless in limited action.

The Gladiators continue their 7th season in the ECHL on Friday, February 5th vs. Toledo at 7:35 p.m. The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and Columbus Blue Jackets and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
