Charlotte Knights News Release
(LAWRENCEVILLE, GA) - Clint Frazier launched a 463-foot blast in a five-run ninth inning to propel the Charlotte Knights to a thrilling 12-9 win over the Gwinnett Stripers on Saturday in game five of the six-game series from Coolray Field in Lawrenceville, GA. The win was Charlotte's third of the series.
Down by a score of 9-7 in the top of the ninth inning, the Knights went to work against Gwinnett reliever Roddery Muñoz (0-2, 8.03). Charlotte scored five runs in the inning off Muñoz - highlighted by Frazier's three-run home run, his third of the season. In fact, the home run was his third in as many days. He launched two home runs in Thursday's game against Gwinnett.
It was a solid offensive showing for the Knights, who combined to record 17 hits in the game. Zach Remillard, Oscar Colás and Nate Mondou all had three hits apiece in Saturday's game. Remillard led the way as he scored four runs on the evening, he also added a stolen base. Erik González chipped in with a three-RBI day.
RHP Nick Padilla (1-0, 3.86) earned the win after he tossed a scoreless eighth inning. RHP Lane Ramsey recorded the final three outs to earn his team-leading fourth save of the season. RHP Sean Burke started the game for Charlotte and allowed three runs over 3.1 innings pitched. He did not factor in Saturday's decision.
The Knights will conclude the six-game road trip against the Gwinnett Stripers (Triple-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves) on Sunday afternoon from Gwinnett County Georgia. The "Voice of the Knights" Matt Swierad will have the call for all of the action on www.CharlotteKnights.com. First pitch of game six is set for 1:05 p.m. from Coolray Field on Sunday.
