Fox To Represent Gladiators in 2009 ECHL All Star Game

The ECHL announced the roster for the American Conference squad for the 2009 ECHL All Star Game in Reading, Pennsylvania today and forward Jordan Fox was named to represent the Gladiators in the game.

Fox leads the Gladiators in scoring with 31 points in 30 games this season off of 13 goals and 18 assists for Gwinnett. His 13 goals is tops on the Gladitors while he has posted 3 power play goals and 2 shorthanded goals for Gwinnett. Fox ranks 11th in scoring in the ECHL while he has notched 8 multiple point games for Gwinnett and has a team high 6-game point scoring streak from December 12th through December 21st.

The Kirkwood, Missouri native split time during the 2007-08 season with the Flint Generals of the IHL and the Albany River Rats of the AHL. He notched a career best 60 points off of 26 goals and 34 assists while with Flint and he had 2 goals and an assist in 8 games with Albany last season.

Fox collected 36 points with Flint during his rookie season in 2006-07 in 74 games. He finished with 13 goals and 23 assists while posting a career high 95 penalty minutes. Fox also had an assist in one playoff game with Flint during the 2006 post season.

In addition, the ECHL announced the roster for the National Conference squad on Tuesday and former Fresno Falcons goaltender and current Gwinnett goaltender Joe Fallon was selected to represent Fresno on the National Conference squad. The Falcons are represented because the voting was complete and rosters had been determined before the team suspended operations on Dec. 22. Fallon, who is under contract to Chicago of the NHL and was recently reassigned to Gwinnett, is 8-4-1 with a shutout, a goals-against average of 2.57 and a save percentage of .911.

Gwinnett continues action in the 2008-09 season on Friday, January 2nd, on the road against the South Carolina Stingrays.

Began in 1988-89 with five teams playing in four states, the Premier 'AA' Hockey League has grown into a coast-to-coast league that will have 21 teams in 16 states and British Columbia playing 864 games from Oct. 17, 2008 to Apr. 4, 2009. Eighteen of the 23 teams have played at least five years in their current city.

The third-longest tenured professional hockey league behind only the National Hockey League and the American Hockey League, the ECHL averaged 4,174 per game last season, marking the fourth year in row and the 16th time in the last 18 years that the league has averaged over 4,000 fans. The league has drawn over four million fans each of the last five years and 11 times in the past 12 seasons.
