Beloit Sky Carp News Release
BELOIT- One big inning led to the downfall of the Beloit Sky Carp Wednesday night in Dayton.
The host Dragons exploded for four runs against Beloit starter Josh White and reliever Kyle Crigger in Dayton's 4-1 victory.
The Sky Carp opened the scoring in the third inning. With one out, Osiris Johnson doubled, and Joe Mack brought him home with a two-out single to make it 1-0.
White, making his first start of the season for the Sky Carp after an earlier stint in the Beloit bullpen, cruised through four innings before giving up a pair of baserunners in the fifth.
Dayton would bring those two runners, plus two more, home in a rally that produced three of the team's six hits in the game.
Beloit, which also finished with six hits, was led by Mack and the red-hot Zach Zubia, who both finished the evening with a pair of hits. Breidy Encarnacion was terrific out of the Beloit bullpen, throwing a pair of perfect innings with two strikeouts.
The Sky Carp and Dragons will meet again Thursday at 6:05 p.m. Beloit will return home for a six-game homestand beginning Tuesday against the Peoria Chiefs, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35.
The Beloit Sky Carp are the High-A Affiliate of the Miami Marlins and play their games at ABC Supply Stadium -- the heart of the Riverbend District.
