Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids offense again came to life Thursday night, scoring seven runs on twelve hits on their way to a 7-5 win over Lansing in game three of the series.

After the Kernels scored the final five runs in the game on Wednesday afternoon, Lansing struck first in the top of the first inning Thursday. After two outs to begin the game, Danny Bautista Jr. crushed a solo home run to put Lansing on top early, 1-0.

In the bottom in the first, the Cedar Rapids offense struck back fast. Walks of Noah Miller and Emmanuel Rodriguez began the inning, putting two on for Kala'i Rosario, who scored both with a double to put the Kernels ahead 2-1. After a Ben Ross single pushed Rosario to third base, he came home to score on an Andrew Cossetti sac fly to make it a 3-1 game after the first.

With two outs in the bottom of the third inning, Cossetti doubled to extend the frame. The next batter, Noah Cardenas, singled to put runners on the corners for Carson McCusker, who picked his first high-A hit and RBI to score Cossetti and lift the Kernels ahead 4-1.

That was the score in the bottom of the fourth inning when Cedar Rapids added one more. With two outs, Emmanuel Rodriguez lined a solo home run over the wall in right for his third home run in the last two games to push the Kernels up 5-1.

Down by four runs in the fifth, Lansing star to come right back. Two singles and a sac fly scored a run for the Lugnuts and left a runner on for T.J. Schofield-Sam, who cranked a two-run home run to make it a one-run game at 5-4.

In the top sixth inning, Brennan Milone led off the frame wrapping a home run around the foul pole in left field to tie the game at 5-5.

That was the tally until the Kernels came to bat in the bottom of the eighth inning. With one out, Kyler Fedko singled, then the next batter Mikey Perez did the same but was thrown out trying to stretch it to a double, leaving Fedko on third base with two outs. With Fedko ninety feet away with two out in the inning, Noah Miller came through with a go-ahead RBI double to put the Kernels back on top at 6-5. With Miller on second, the next three batters walked to produce a Cedar Rapids insurance run and give the Kernels the lead it would never lose in the 7-5 victory.

The win for the Kernels (61-38) is their third in a row to begin the series against Lansing (44-54) as Cedar Rapids extends its home winning streak to a season-long eight games. Game four of the series is set for tomorrow at 6:35, with Christian MacLeod on the mound for the Kernels opposite Jose Dicochea.
