Beloit Sky Carp News Release

DAYTON, Ohio - The Beloit Sky Carp got off to a solid start and never looked back Thursday in a 9-5 win over the Dayton Dragons.

The win was the first after two straight losses in the series to Dayton. Beloit's offensive attack featured three home runs and 11 hits.

Beloit got the scoring started in the third inning on Cristhian Rodriguez's first home run of the season. The blast plated Osiris Johnson as well to make it 2-0.

The Sky Carp added two more runs in the fourth, as Josh Zamora plated Davis Bradshaw with a fielders choice, and Rodriguez drove home Cam Barstad with a sacrifice fly to give Beloit a 4-0 lead.

After Dayton got back into the game with a pair of runs in the fourth, Barstad singled home Torin Montgomery before Zamora unloaded a three-run blast to make it 8-2.

Osiris Johnson capped the scoring for Beloit with a solo shot to center in the seventh, his sixth round-tripper of the season.

Ike Buxton (2-0) got the start and the win for the Carp, throwing 5 1-3 innings and allowing three runs (two earned). Matt Givin was stellar out of the bullpen for Beloit, throwing 2 2-3 innings of scoreless ball with four strikeouts.

The Sky Carp and Dragons will meet again Friday at 6:05 p.m. Beloit will return home for a six-game homestand beginning Tuesday against the Peoria Chiefs, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35.

The Beloit Sky Carp are the High-A Affiliate of the Miami Marlins and play their games at ABC Supply Stadium -- the heart of the Riverbend District.
