Indianapolis Indians News Release
TOLEDO, OHIO - Four Indianapolis Indians pitchers combined to blank the Toledo Mud Hens on Saturday evening in the Tribe's 2-0 victory. The triumph opened the brief two-game set in Ohio, and it snapped the Indians' six-game losing streak.
Rehabbing Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Tyler Glasnow started for the Tribe (65-69) and worked three scoreless innings. He worked out of two separate jams in the second and third innings. Trevor Williams (8-6) relieved him in a piggy-back start, and he authored four shutout frames to earn the victory. Curtis Partch converted his fourth save of the season.
The shutout is the 18th of the season for the Indians pitching staff.
A pair of doubles put Indianapolis on the board in the fourth inning. Jose Osuna began the rally with a double to the deepest part of the ballpark in left-center field. Jason Rogers then lined a double down the third-base line to plate Osuna, and give the Tribe the lead.
A solo home run by Gift Ngoepe in the eighth inning padded the Indians' lead to 2-0.
Toledo (63-72) starter Buck Farmer (5-6) tossed six innings and conceded just one earned run, but he was handed the loss.
The victory snapped a six-game losing streak for the Indians, which was the longest such stretch for the club this season. With the defeat, Toledo saw a five-game winning streak halted.
Indianapolis and Toledo will play each other the next four days, including a three-game series beginning on Monday night at Victory Field. That set will commence a six-game homestand for the Indians. The two clubs will wrap-up their series in Toledo on Sunday evening at 6:05 p.m. This story was not subject to the approval of the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues or its clubs.
