
Ford And Stars Cruise To 3-0 Shutout Over Monsters

Cleveland, OH - The Texas Stars (24-13-3-4, 55 points) defeated the Lake Erie Monsters (21-21-0-4, 46 points) 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in front of 6,593 fans at the Quicken Loans Arena. Goalie Todd Ford (2-0-1) recorded his second straight shutout, stopping all 26 Lake Erie shots for the victory. Center Perttu Lindgren scored twice and defenseman Maxime Fortunus also scored, as Texas ended its six-game losing skid on the road. Lake Erie goalie Billy Sauer (3-4-0) stopped 26 Texas shots in the defeat. The Stars return home on Tuesday to meet the Milwaukee Admirals at 7:30 PM.
Texas scored the only goal of the opening period, finishing off the first power play of the day. Defenseman Andrew Hutchinson found Stars forward Perttu Lindgren on a back-door feed at 10:19. Lindgren snapped a wrist shot past Lake Erie goalie Billy Sauer for his seventh goal of the year and a 1-0 Texas lead after one period of play
Texas expanded its lead to 2-0 at 14:52 of the second period. Stars defenseman Maxime Fortunus picked up the puck on the right-wing wall and snapped a wrist shot to the Lake Erie net. The puck deflected off a defender's skate and into the net for the 2-0 Texas lead. Stars forwards Colton Sceviour and Sergei Korostin assisted on the second goal of the night.
In the third period, Lindgren added an empty-net goal with seven seconds remaining in regulation for the 3-0 final.
The Stars return home on Tuesday, Jan. 26 at 7:30 PM against the Milwaukee Admirals. Fans who bring an H-E-B Store Brand non-perishable item will receive a $5.00 discount. Texas will host Abbotsford on Friday, Jan 29 and Saturday, Jan. 30. The first 2,000 fans to the 7:30 PM Friday game receive a Texas Stars Calendar and the team will participate in a post-game autograph session. Also, the Cedar Park Center will sell $2.00 domestic drafts and $1.00 hot dogs. The first 2,000 fans for Saturday's 7:00 pm start will receive a Texas Stars youth t-shirt. Also, fans may purchase the State Farm Family four-pack for Saturday's game (four tickets, four sodas and four hot dogs for $44).
