Glens Falls, NY- River Rats rookie Zach Boychuk broke a 2-2 tie with 4:02 remaining in the third period to lift the River Rats to a 3-2 win over the Adirondack Phantoms in Game Eight of the Time Warner Cable Cup series Saturday night at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

Boychuk showed off the wrist shot that made him Carolina's first round selection in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, unleashing a laser past the glove hand of Phantoms goalie John Grahame on a 3-on-2 rush for the game-winner. The 20 year-old's 12th of the season gave Albany a 6-1-1-0 lead in the 12-game Time Warner Cable Cup series against the Phantoms, and extended the River Rats' point streak to four games (3-0-1-0).

Albany out-shot Adirondack 12-1 in the opening period, but Grahame kept the game scoreless until 4:38 of the second, when Jerome Samson set-up Nicolas Blanchard for a power play marker. The Phantom's leveled the score at 13:37 of the middle frame with a power play tally of their own, as Jon Matsumoto found David Laliberte on the back-door for an open put-away.

The River Rats reclaimed their one-goal lead in the third period with another power play goal at 4:35. Jamie Mcbain fired a centering feed through traffic to Jacob Micflikier for the winger's tenth of the season. Adirondack defenseman Joonas Lehtivuori knotted the game midway through the final frame on a big rebound from the low slot.

Albany goaltender Justin Peters stopped 26-of-28 shots faced in the game to earn the win as Albany improved to 24-16-3-2 this season. Grahame allowed three goals on 29 River Rats shots and took the loss as the Phantoms dropped to 20-19-2-1 this year. Albany out-shot Adirondack 29-28 in the game and went 2-for-6 on the power play, while the Phantoms went 1-for-4 on the man-advantage.
