ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades finished a busy week of action with a record of 1-1-2. The 'Blades enter this week's action with a record of 19-13-3 (41 pts., T-1st South Division) and are tied for first in the American Conference.

THIS WEEK (All Times Eastern)

Saturday, January 15 vs. Columbia Inferno 7:30 p.m.

GAME NOTES: The Everblades play just one game this week when they take on the Columbia Inferno on Saturday night at Germain Arena. The 'Blades and Inferno meet for the second of six times this year and the first of three times at Germain Arena. The Inferno lead the season series 1-0-0 after a 5-4 victory in Columbia, SC on Jan. 4. Last season the Everblades finished with a record of 1-3-1 vs. Columbia, including 1-0-1 at home. The Inferno enters this week's action with a record of 17-9-3 (37 pts., 3rd East Division), and have won seven of their last 10 games. The Everblades hold an all-time record of 9-10-3 vs. Columbia.

LAST WEEK'S RESULTS

Tuesday, January 4 at Columbia 5-4 L

The Everblades dropped their first game against the Columbia Inferno 5-4 on Tuesday night at the Carolina Coliseum in Columbia, SC. Columbia held a lead of 3-1 going into the third period before the Everblades began a wild come-back. Matt Hendricks and Brandon Coalter scored 13 seconds apart in the first three minutes of the final period to tie the game. After the Inferno regained a 4-3 advantage Damian Surma re-tied the game at four with seven minutes remaining in game. Columbia picked up the eventual game-winning goal with just under three minutes remaining in the game while short-handed. Steve Saviano scored Florida's first goal of the night in the first period. Craig Kowalski started in goal for the Everblades and suffered the loss, allowing the five goals on 30 shots. The Everblades allowed two short-handed goals to the Inferno in the contest. Florida special teams: PP: 1-for-5, PK: 4-for-5.

Thursday, January 6 at Pee Dee 4-3 W

The Everblades collected a 4-3 win in the final meeting of the season against the Pee Dee Pride on Thursday night at the Florence Civic Center in Florence, SC. The 'Blades again used a come-back effort to collect the win. Pee Dee scored twice in the second period and 20 seconds into the third period to open a 3-0 lead over the 'Blades, but Florida stormed right back with Steve Saviano beginning the rally 55 seconds into the third period. Matt Pagnutti cut the Pride lead to one at 3:16, and Damian Surma tied the game 1:19 later. The Everblades scored the eventual game-winner with 7:29 remaining in the game when Kris Vernarsky collected his fifth goal of the season. Rob Zepp picked up the win in goal for Florida stopping 32 of 35 Pee Dee shots. Florida special teams: PP: 0-for-3, PK: 3-for-5. The 'Blades closed out the season series against Pee Dee with a 4-1-0 record.

Friday, January 7 at South Carolina 3-2 OTL

The Everblades earned a tie in the standings with a 3-2 overtime loss to the South Carolina Stingrays on Friday night at the North Charleston Coliseum in Charleston, SC. For the third straight game, the Everblades trailed by two goals entering the third period, and like-wise for the third straight game, came back to tie the game. After South Carolina notched a pair of second period goals, Chris Lee brought the Everblades to within a goal less than two minutes into the final period and Ryan Brindley tied the game with 9:13 left in the third period. The physical game which saw the teams combine for 62 penalty minutes, remained tied through the duration of the third period, sending the game into overtime. Three minutes 25 seconds into overtime, the Stingrays picked up the game-winner for the extra point in the standings. Rob Zepp picked up the tie in goal by stopping 24 of 27 South Carolina shots. Florida special teams:

PP: 0-for-7, PK: 6-for-7. With one game remaining in the season series, the Everblades hold a record of 1-2-1 vs. South Carolina.

Saturday, January 8 at Charlotte 5-4 OTL

For the second straight game, the Everblades earned a tie in the standings with an overtime loss. The 'Blades dropped a 5-4 decision to the Charlotte Checkers on Saturday night at Cricket Arena in Charlotte, NC. Damian Surma scored the first of his two goals in the second period for the 'Blades and Brad Church gave Florida a 2-1 lead in the first two minutes in the third period, but Charlotte reeled off three straight goals to open a 4-2 lead at the 13:57 mark of the final period. Florida rallied to tie the game on goals by Surma at 15:24 and Steve Saviano with 27 seconds remaining in the game. In overtime, the Checkers tallied a power play goal to earn the extra point in the standings. Craig Kowalski started in goal for Florida and stopped 30 of 35 shots. Florida special teams: PP: 2-for-6, PK: 4-for-6. The Everblades hold a record of 2-0-1 vs. Charlotte this season, with one game remaining between the two teams.
