
Florida Acquires Scorer, Three Assigned

Estero, FL - The Florida Everblades Head Coach Gerry Fleming announced today that Florida has acquired forward Jim Abbott from the Toledo Storm (ECHL) for cash. Last season, Abbott saw action with the Pensacola Ice Pilots and notched 32 points in 34 games. He also picked up 24 points in 35 contests with Toledo. Prior to his professional career, Abbott was a standout forward at the University of New Hampshire for four years and helped the Wildcats reach the NCAA championship game during his junior year.
In related news, the Lowell Lock Monsters reassigned three players to the Blades this afternoon including goaltender Rob Zepp who went 14-13-7 last season for Florida, forward David Lundbohm, a prominent forward at the University of North Dakota the past four seasons and defenseman Jared Newman.
Abbott is the 16th player added to the roster by Florida for the upcoming 2004-05 campaign joining forwards Damian Surma, Reggie Berg, Greg Hornby, David Lundbohm Brad Church, Keith Anderson, Brandon Coalter, Chris Lee, Brent McDonald, Matt Hendricks and defenseman Brian Sullivan, Tom Reimann, Jared Newman and goaltenders Rob Zepp and Craig Kowalski. The Everblades will release their preliminary training camp roster on Friday afternoon.
Game On! The Florida Everblades will open their seventh season in Southwest Florida at Germain Arena on Friday, October 22nd at 7:30 PM. Florida takes on the Mississippi Seawolves in two preseason contests on October 15th and 16th at 7:30 PM.
