Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies News Release
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. â The Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies of the ECHL, a proud affiliate of the New York Islanders, have acquired goaltender Adam Munro from the Gwinnett Gladiators in exchange for cash considerations. Munro, who is under contract with the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League, has been assigned to Atlantic City and will join the Bullies for their first practice of training camp tomorrow at Flyers SkateZone.
Munro, 21, split his rookie season in 2003-04 with Chicago, Norfolk of the American Hockey League, and Gwinnett of the ECHL. The St. George, ON native played in 25 games, finishing with a 10-10-3 overall record along with a 2.77 goals against average and a .892% save percentage. Munro backstopped Gwinnett to their first ever victory on October 18 at Charlotte, and later became the first Gladiator to be called up to the NHL when Chicago signed him to a contract on February 18.
In his NHL debut on March 1, Munro stopped 33 shots in a 2-2 tie at Nashville. He recorded his first NHL win on March 12 at Washington, making 27 saves in a 4-3 win over the Capitols. In 7 starts for Chicago, Munro went 1-5-1 with a 3.67 goals against average and a .880% save percentage. He is a former first round draft pick of Chicago from the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
"As a former first round draft pick and a kid with NHL experience, we know we're getting a solid goaltender in Adam," said Bullies Head Coach Matt Thomas. "It's certainly going to make for an exciting year watching two goaltenders in Adam and Jake who are capable and are going to compete and push each other to get better."
The Bullies open training camp at 4PM this afternoon with introductory meetings and physicals at Boardwalk Hall.
Individual game tickets for the 2004-05 season are currently on sale and can be purchased anytime by calling Ticketmaster at 1-800-736-1420 or by visiting the Boardwalk Hall box office Monday-Saturday from 11AM-5PM.
