ECHL Teams Take Ice For Training Camp Friday

PRINCETON, N.J. – Nine ECHL teams are scheduled to take the ice on Friday, the first day that the league allows on-ice training to begin. The nine teams scheduled to take the ice are Atlantic City, Bakersfield, Greenville, Gwinnett, Long Beach, Mississippi, San Diego, Victoria and Wheeling.

ECHL players may report for physicals on Thursday and teams are allowed to begin on-ice sessions on Friday. Training camp rosters for all 28 teams will be posted on echl.com, the league web site.

Alaska, Fresno, Las Vegas, Toledo and Trenton will take the ice on Saturday followed by Augusta, Dayton, Louisiana, Pee Dee, Pensacola and South Carolina on Sunday. The final eight teams scheduled to go onto the ice on Monday are Kelly Cup Champion Idaho, Eastern Conference Champion Florida, Charlotte, Columbia, Johnstown, Peoria, Reading and Texas.

The preseason schedule will open on Monday with the Trenton Titans hosting the Philadelphia Phantoms of the American Hockey League at the Sovereign Bank Arena.

Greenville will travel to Anchorage where the Alaska Aces will host the Grrrowl in preseason games on October 14 and 15 at Sullivan Arena. Last season the Aces hosted Trenton in two preseason games.

Idaho and league newcomer Victoria will play two preseason games in British Columbia, the first-ever ECHL games played outside the United States. The Steelheads and Salmon Kings play on October 15 at Prospera Centre in Chilliwack, British Columbia and on October 16 at Cowichan Community Centre in Duncan, British Columbia.

Sunday, October 10
Augusta Lynx, Dayton Bombers, Louisiana IceGators, Pee Dee Pride, Pensacola Ice Pilots and South Carolina Stingrays

Monday, October 11
Charlotte Checkers, Columbia Inferno, Florida Everblades, Idaho Steelheads, Johnstown Chiefs, Peoria Rivermen, Reading Royals and Texas Wildcatters
