IceGators Announce Project M.A.M.A.
October 7, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Louisiana IceGators News Release
Lafayette, LA â The Louisiana IceGators today announced a team initiative to help local members of the military and their families during the 2004-05 season. Project "Mission Acadiana Military Aid" or M.A.M.A. will combine the efforts of the Louisiana IceGators and the Acadiana community to help supply our troops overseas and at the same time, provide a special night for all military families.
Supplies raised during "Project M.A.M.A" will be specifically shipped to local units now deployed overseas. The requested list of supplies is being gathered directly from the units currently serving overseas and will be made public in the next few weeks. The IceGators will have designated booths in the concourse of the Cajundome before every home game for supply drop off.
The efforts of "Project M.A.M.A" will be recognized during two "Armed Forces Nights" on Sunday, December 19, 2004 and Sunday March 20, 2005. On these nights local military personnel and their families will be honored by the IceGators organization. Children on these military families will be allowed to visit the IceGators locker room, meet the team and take pictures with their favorite player. These photos will be sent to family members protecting our country on foreign soil. Any person or business wanting to donate tickets to these families will receive the "10th Anniversary Special" rate of $10.00 a ticket. These donations are available only through the IceGators office, for information call (337)234-4423.
"We are hoping the community will join us in this endeavor," said Nancy Gordon, Project M.A.M.A., Director. "We cannot thank these brave people enough and are looking forward to honoring them and their families on these two nights."
Project M.A.M.A will be a yearlong community event. For more information, please contact info@icegators.com.
