Five Suns Named to Southern League All-Star Team

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Southern League has announced the 2011 South Division All-Star team and the Jacksonville Suns will be represented by five players in the 2011 All-Star game which will take place Tuesday June, 21st at Pringles Park in Jackson, Tenn.

The five players to represent the Suns are: catcher Luke Montz, outfielders Kevin Mattison and Alex Romero, and pitchers Chris Hatcher and Sandy Rosario.

Luke Montz on the season is hitting .291 and 34 runs batted in and leads the team in home runs with 12. Kevin Mattison leads the Southern League in stolen bases with 18 and for much of the season has led the Suns in hitting and currently has a batting average of .327 with eight triples and 26 runs batted in. Alex Romero is one of the Sun's hottest heading into the All-Star break, as he leads the team in batting average with .339 and also has the fewest strikeouts as a Suns' regular.

Chris Hatcher, fresh off his 2010 Southern League Championship clinching home run has earned a spot on the South All-Star roster as a pitcher. Hatcher leads the team with a 1.85 earned run average and is second with seven holds on the season. Sandy Rosario leads the Southern League with 15 saves in 17 opportunities and a 2.57 earned run average.

Rosario also leads the team with an outstanding 27 strikeouts to just four walks. Brad Hand, who recently was called up to the Florida Marlins, posted a 7-1 record with a 3.53 earned run average in 11 outings with the Suns in 2011 and received an honorable mention from the Southern League.
