St. Cloud Rox News Release
Alexandria, MN--- The St. Cloud Rox once again came from behind for an 8-2 victory, which vaulted them into a tie for first place atop the North Division.
Domenick Carlini (Southeastern Louisiana University) got the start on the mound for the Rox, and started off slowly, allowing one run on one hit and a walk in the first inning. After the brief rough patch, Carlini found his groove, as he limited the Blue Anchors to just 4 hits after the first inning, and kept them scoreless. Carlini's final line: 6 IP, 5 H, 1 ER and 4 K's.
Trailing 1-0 heading into the 6th inning, the Rox had one of their patented offensive explosions, as they tallied 4 runs in the top of the inning to take a 4-1 lead.
Liam Bedford (Doane College) got things going for the Rox in the top of the 6th, as he singled with one out. Following a Brandon Benson (Georgia College) single, Webb Bobo (Southeastern Louisiana University) came to the plate with 2 runners on and 2 outs. Bobo promptly doubled to plate Bedford, and the Rox found themselves tied at one.
The inning continued, and after a Kyle Serrano (Colorado Mesa University) walk, Toby Hanson (University of Minnesota) hit a double to score Benson and Bobo to push the Rox lead to 3-1. Serrano later came around to score on a 2-out double by Jake Farr to push the lead to 4-1. (Tennessee Tech)
Brandon Benson homered in the 7th, blasting a 2-run shot over the centerfield wall to extend the Rox lead to 6-1.
Brett DeGagne (University of North Dakota) came to the mound in the 7th inning for the Rox, and after allowing a solo homerun to the first batter he faced, then slammed the door shut, as he struck out 7 batters in 3 innings of work.
Michael Strem (Boston College) added an RBI single in the 8th to give the Rox a 7-2 lead.
Joe Tietjen (UNC Asheville) added a solo homerun in the 9th inning for the 8th and final run, and the Rox finished their 4-game road trip with a 3-1 record.
Your Rox return home tied for first in the North division, which sets up a huge 2-game series against the 7-2 Rochester Honkers. First pitch on Friday night is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
