The Duluth Huskies (6-4) defeated the Eau Claire Express 1-0 capturing their 3rd consecutive win.
The lone run of the game came in the bottom of the 7th when Alex Wojciechowski reached 1st base on a single followed by a walk from Jean Figueroa. Matt McLaughlin followed with a single scoring Wojciechowski. Brady Arenson (Florida Southern) pitched 6 shutout innings for the Huskies allowing 4 hits and striking out 5. Ryan Tapani followed with 2 scoreless innings and Austin Carpenter finished it off recording his 3rd save in the process.
Brett Blackwood led the Express in hits by going 2 for 4 but there wasn't much more offense besides that. The Express had their chances over the course of the game but were not able to muster home a run.
Ryan Tapani earned his first win of the season for the Huskies while Teddy Cillis recorded his first loss of the season for the Express. The two teams conclude their two-game series against one another Thursday night at Wade Stadium.
