Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.- The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters picked up their first series sweep of the season, defeating the defending Northwoods League Champion Lakeshore Chinooks 4-1 at Witter Field last night. The Rafters now travel to southeastern Wisconsin for their next two games where they will take on the Kenosha Kingfish for a pair of games. The Rafters come into the game with a good amount of momentum and confidence after a strong three game home-stand.
Luke Sommerfeld (St. Louis) will make his second start and third appearance for the Rafters this season. The two times Sommerfield has been on the hill for the Rafters this 2015, they have been victorious. The Elm Grove, Wisconsin native will technically be making the start on the road this evening, but Historic Simmons Field is just a hop, skip, and a jump away from where Sommerfeld grew up. Opposing him on the mound this evening for Kenosha will be Anthony Olson (Oakton CC). Olson comes into the ball game with a 1-0 record and an ERA of 12.15. He was tagged for six runs on ten hits back on May 29th against the Lakeshore Chinooks.
The Rafters will return home to Historic Witter Field after tomorrow night's ball game, as they will begin a six game home-stand Sunday June 7th against the Kalamazoo Growlers.
