Wisconsin Rapids Rafters News Release

Kenosha, Wis.- The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters dropped their first game against Kenosha this season. The Rafters lost a three run lead in the last three innings as the Kingfish pick-up the comeback win 5-4 at Historic Simmons Field. Hunter Alexander ( St. Johns River State) was the hero as he plated Jack Sundberg (UConn) for the fifth and final run of the game for Kenosha.

The Rafters were the superior team through the first six innings, as John Jaeger (Pacific) came out of the bullpen and threw five and one-third innings of one run baseball. Jaeger struck out three Kingfish hitters while in the ball game for the visitors. Ryan Cleveland (Georgia Southern) had a multi-hit ball game and drove in a run for the Rafters. Wisconsin Rapids also plated a few runs in the fifth inning when Blake Molitor (Illinois State) hit a fly ball high in the infield and Dillon Mazzococcoli (Texas State) dropped the fly ball and allowed two men to score. His ensuing pitch that ended up at the backstop allowed Ryan Cleveland to score from third.

Other than Alexander, Jason Scholl (Eastern Illinois) hit a solo home-run in the 7th, while Callahan Brown (UConn), threw two perfect innings in the eighth and ninth to pick-up the victory for the Kingfish.

The Rafters play Kenosha at 6:05 tomorrow night, before they will return home to Historic Witter Field to begin a six game home-stand Sunday June 7th against the Kalamazoo Growlers.
