
Kingfish Walk off Victory 5-4 over Wisconsin Rapids

Kenosha, Wis. - Hunter Alexander was cold at the plate and entered the batter's box 0-3 on the night in the ninth inning. The third baseman sure picked a great time to get his first hit of the game, singling in centerfielder Jack Sundberg to seal the 5-4 come from behind victory for the Kingfish over the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters on Friday night.
The Kingfish struck first in the game after designated hitter Zach Ratcliff scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the second inning. The Rafters went on to score the next four runs of the game, highlighted by three runs in the fifth inning. Kingfish catcher Jason Scholl got the Kingfish within 4-2 after his homerun off the right field foul pole in the seventh inning. The Kingfish added one more in the eighth inning after Alexander scored to make it a 4-3 ball game entering the ninth.
Shortstop Mitch Gasbarro led off the ninth with a hit by pitch. After a Sundberg walk and second baseman Nick Sergakis sacrifice bunt, left fielder Eric Filia was intentionally walked to set the stage for Alexander's heroics. On the third pitch of the at bat, Gasbarro scored on a wild pitch. Alexander drove the very next pitch to right center field to bring in Sundberg and cap the come from behind victory for the Kingfish.
Anthony Olson started for the Kingfish and went four and two thirds innings. Callahan Brown came in to pitch two perfect innings of relief in the eighth and ninth inning to earn the win. Luke Sommerfeld started for the Rafters and lasted one and two thirds of an inning before John Jaeger came on to work over five innings of relief. Nick Nelsen took the loss for Wisconsin Rapids.
On Saturday, the Kingfish host the Rafters at 6:05 p.m. at Simmons Field. Kenosha Limos and Kaiser's Pizza & Pun present Holloywood Night. Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home Fireworks will light up the sky after Saturday's game. Sunday, the Kingfish play host to the Madison Mallards at 1:05 p.m. Sunday is Columbia College of Missouri Military Appreciation Day. A Petting Zoo sponsored by Jerry Smith Pumpkin Farm will also be set up at Simmons Field. Tickets are still available for both contests.
The Kingfish ticket office powered by Platinum Systems office is located at 7817 Sheridan Road and is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
