Toledo Mud Hens News Release

The Mud Hens comeback fell short on a beautiful Tuesday night at Fifth Third Field, as Toledo dropped their second in a row to Indianapolis 7-3. Christin Stewart stayed hot at the plate, hitting safely in his sixth straight game. This is the first time this season the first-place Hens have lost two games in a row.

Artie Lewicki got the call for the Mud Hens on Tuesday, going 5 2/3 innings. Lewicki allowed six earned runs on six hits through the first two innings, but held the Indians to no runs in his final 3 2/3 innings of work. Righty Phillippe Aumont took over in the sixth for Lewicki, pitching a clean inning and a third for the home team. Louis Coleman got the call in the eighth inning, allowing one run.

Similar to Monday, Indianapolis dusted up the Hens' starter early with four runs in the first inning. The early lead came on a solo shot to dead center field, a walk, and three singles. The Indians extended the lead to 6-0 in the second on a sacrifice fly and RBI triple.

C Jarrod Saltalamacchia got the Hens on the board in the bottom half of the second inning with an RBI double, sending home 1B Edwin Espinal.

Toledo found themselves in good shape in the bottom of the third after back-to-back walks with no outs. After 2B Dawel Lugo hit into a double play, LF Christin Stewart knocked in his fifth home run of the season, good for tops in the IL. This cut the Indians lead to 6-3. Stewart now holds a six-game hit streak.

Indianapolis added to their lead in the top of the eighth on an RBI double.

Toledo finishes their homestand on Wednesday morning for a 10:35 a.m. first pitch against Indianapolis. AFter a four-game stint in Durham, the Mud Hens return to Fifth Third Field on Monday, May 7.
